STUDY OF SIGNIFICANCE OF PHASE MASK IMAGE IN ACUTE STROKE PATIENTS

Background: Phase images contains information regarding local susceptibility changes between the tissues, which can help measure iron and other content field. Typically, this is ignored before looking at console. Susceptibility weighted imaging (SWI) a magnetic resonance (MR) technique detects an early hemorrhagic transformation within infarct to provide insight into cerebral hemodynamics following stroke. Objective: Significance of “phase mask in differentiation hemorrhage calcifications” acute stroke patients. Methods: An observational non-interventional study carried out on 100 patients with headache symptoms. MRI Brain Stroke Profile FLAIR, DWI, ADC, SWAN, sequences, done 3T GE scanner. Results: All underwent SWI sequence. Of 183 cases, 33%(n=60) had microbleeds, 5%(n=10) granulomas, 32%(n=58) arterial thrombus infarct, 11%(n=20) falx calcifications, intraparenchymal haemorrhage, 8%(n=15) infarcts haemorrhagic transformation. The sensitivity phase detection calcification was 90%. Conclusion: plays important role detect intracranial calcifications chronic microbleeds. acts as supplement tool patients, guides further management.
